Preview: 6th Annual Women in Comedy Festival

WICF6This year is the 6th annual Women in Comedy Festival and I’m very excited for it! After a couple of years as just an observer, this year I’m also performing in a couple of shows. First up, I’m in an improv show featuring—my group—Big Gulp, Maxitor, and Big Bang Improv at ImprovBoston during one of the first shows of the festival. Then Saturday night, I’m in one of the two ComedySportz Boston-sponsored show at the Davis Square Theatre.

There are a whole bunch of shows that look amazing during the festival. If I weren’t in my show Thursday night, I’d be seeing Maria Bamford at the Wilbur Theatre. I’ve seen Maria Bamford before during the Comedians of Comedy Tour a few years back and always enjoy when she pops up on TV, either for Target or on Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!. I’ve got tickets to see another one of the headlining shows, Friday’s An Evening with Amy Sedaris at the Wilbur Theatre. Amy Sedaris on Strangers with Candy made for one of the funniest characters on one of the funniest TV shows ever.

Some more shows I really hope to catch (and I can fit in) are Sketch & Stand-Up Comedy and Improv Jam at ImprovBoston, Wicked City, The Magnet Theater TourCo, and North Coast at ImprovBoston, the Put Your Hands Together Podcast at Laugh Boston, and the ComedySportz Mother’s Day Battle of the Sexes Show at the Davis Square Theater. I’m also going to try to squeeze in a workshop or two.
