A Week in NYC

I’ve been to New York City more times than I can remember. I’ve always lived in Massachusetts, so the drive has never been too bad and there’s enough stuff to do there and field trips to be had in middle school for having good grades. I’ve even performed stand-up in Chelsea before, but one thing I haven’t done is spent an extended period in the Big Apple.

Next week this changes, as I’ll be in NYC from the 18th-25th. For a long time now I’ve wanted to take an improv comedy class at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and the week of the 19th they are having an intensive course where I’ll be improv-ing for something like 6 hours a day. At night I hope to go to and possibly perform at some stand-up shows and explore the city, all while doing some blogging when I can find the time. So stay tuned for plenty of updates here and on my Twitter feed.

  1. Heya Matt,

I’ve been wanting to try an improv class here in Boston, but still just so twisted up in all my other endeavors. I’ve yet to find extra time or money. Perhaps after Vegas things will settle down! Looking forward to hearing about it on twitter and here! Enjoy yourself and write a lot! Pictures too!

You can send me the explicit ones via email tut tut tut… =P

    Take care,

    Tommy Sunshine!

  2. I’ve been weighing the pros and cons of ImprovBoston or Improv Asylum for an improv class closer to home, but neither had a schedule that really fit me yet. I’ve always wanted to take the class at UCB, so it’s kind of like a dream come true I can do it in a week. I’ll probably try one of the Boston ones eventually, though.
