Open Mic at Pearl New York Lounge

This past Saturday I was in New York City (with fellow blogger Laura Miner, at whose blog you can read about the ridiculous lunch we had). While I was there I performed for my first time in New York at an open mic in Chelsea at a place called the Pearl New York Lounge. The place opened up around 5:30, I signed up a little before 6:00, and the show went on around 6:10. I performed second and had a solid six minute set (I think the crowd was feeling it). It’s my understanding this open mic is relatively new, I think the bar has only been around about a year now, so there weren’t too many comics or a big crowd but it was fun nonetheless. The host Christine Sooyah Jun was very nice and all the comics were friendly (and funny too!). Drinks were even buy-one/get-one, so despite the fact that they were like $9 each it worked out to be reasonably priced in the end.
